The Company

Story Carpets started in Sunderland in the 1920s and grew into Britain’s largest independent floorcovering retailer with over 27 stores across the North of England.

The Problem

Storey carpets had grown dramatically and their rapid growth had highlighted a gap in their processes and the systems they had in place weren’t coping with their ever expanding business.

Like many other retailers, Storey’s monitored performance against targets, which gave an excellent indication as to how the company was operating. They needed a solution that would enable them to track and analyse real time information from all stores at any point in time from any location.

The systems and processes they had in place at the time, could not offer the information and flexibility that was required to retrieve and analyse the information.

The Solution

Storey Carpets chose i2B Consultancy to streamline and enable communications in real time. Our Software Consultancy team worked alongside Storey Carpets’ IT and Finance departments to develop a real time management web based solution. The solution we created for Storey Carpets provided them with real time sales information by person, branch, region and division.

At any point in time from anywhere in the world, managers had access to the information they required. The system also enabled the user to view past performances by setting the date to any point in past for analysis.

Sitting alongside and tightly integrated with their bespoke back office system, i2B’s system was rolled-out throughout all of Storey Carpets UK branches and Head Office in Washington.

Storeys benefited from improved performance measurement and performance goal setting, all of which lead to overall business improvement. The solution also improved staff management and anomolies were highlighted much quicker.

As the solution had a ‘drill-down’ facility, there was also visibility on unusual transactions and discounts as they were easily highlighted.
